RCA wins Organization of the Year

On November 7, River Clyde Arts received the Organization of the Year Award at the 2024 PEI Arts Awards. RCA was nominated alongside two incredible Island arts organizations, The Island Fringe Festival (which forever holds a special place in my heart), and the PEI Craft Council.

Here’s a little bit of what I said as I accepted the award:

“I’m really grateful for this honour, especially as we head into our tenth year of making theatre in New Glasgow. One of the values that is incredibly important to us at River Clyde Arts is stewardship of the things we care about. Stewardship takes many forms – it’s integrated into how we work in relationship to the land and river, and how we design our programs with long-term relationships in mind. We build creative, welcoming spaces where people can come, year after year, and be in community, and make something magical that’s only possible to make through sustained collaboration.

The relationships we build are reciprocal, trusting, and lasting – because we are consistent in how we show up and offer support.

Awards are great, but the key to getting through the dark times ahead is consistent funding support for the arts.

True stewardship isn’t about one-time gestures – it’s about showing up consistently, year after year, to nurture what matters. We are all going to keep showing up, because the arts are how we process grief, forge connections, and co-create better futures. And this vital work, that all of us here are doing, deserves funding that matches this devotion and commitment.

Thank you to the entire River Clyde Arts team, and thank you all for the award.”
